  • The AcSIR is an Institution of National Importance established by an Act of Parliament.
  • An opportunity to pursue higher education at all the 38 National Institutes of CSIR and a few non-CSIR Institutes under ICMR, DST and other prestigious R&D institutions – A nation-wide network of AcSIR Academic Centres
  • Presently, AcSIR is ranked 2nd by “Scimago Institutions Ranking” (2022), 11th by “Nature index” (2021-22) and 18th “NIRF (2022) in the Research Category, among the academic institutions in India.
  • AcSIR has a wide choice of academic degree programs, including, Ph.D, Integrated Dual Degree Program (M.Tech+Ph.D), Integrated M.Sc-Ph.D, M.Tech, M.Sc. and PG Diploma.
  • AcSIR has awarded the highest number of PhD degrees (474) in the year 2021 among education institutions in India. In 2018, AcSIR awarded 574 PhD degrees in different faculties of Science and Engineering, which is the highest awarded by AcSIR in any year.
  • Currently, more than 6000 students are enrolled for their PhD degree in different faculties of Science and Engineering, which is the highest among the education institutions in India.
  • AcSIR has Joint PhD Degree Fellowship Programs (Coututelle) with three Australian Universities (RMIT University, Melbourne; University of Western Australia, Perth and Deakin University, Melbourne). About 60 AcSIR PhD students avail these fellowships every year to continue their PhD program in one of these Australian universities.  These fellowships are upto one year duration and include a monthly stipend, international return air-fare, full fee waiver, etc.
